From Box to Bike
A day in the life of The Local Bike Shop
If you were ever wondering what happens to a bike from when it come into the shop to when you get it here is your chance.
Step 1 - Bike Box
Bike is recieved boxed
Step 2 - Bike Unboxed
Bike removed from box
Step 3 - Stem Undo
Bike seat is attached and stem plate is removed
Step 4 - Stem Bolts Greased
Stem bolts a removed and stem thread greased
Step 5 - Bars Attached
Bars attached to stem
Step 6 - Headset Removed
Stem and forks removed
Step 7 - Headset Greased
Headset bearing greased and stem re-attached
Step 8 - Rear Wheel Removed
Rear wheel is undone and removed from bike
Step 9 - Rear Cones
Rear cones are checked and tensioned correctly.
Step 10 - Front Cones
Front cones are checked and tensioned correctly.
Step 11 - Rear Wheel True
Rear wheel is checked in truing stand and adjusted till true then tensioned.
Step 12 - Front Wheel True
Front wheel is checked in truing stand and adjusted and tightened.
Step 13/1 - Cranks Arm Side Bolt
Crank arm side bolt loosened.
Step 13/2 - Crank Arm Main Bolt
Main crank arm bolt is removed and crank arm and bolt are greased.
Step 14 - Crank Arm Re-fitted
Greased crank arm and bolt are re-fitted to spindle. Cranks are tensioned evenly to keep spindle length even in each crank arm.
Step 15 - Rear Wheel and Chain fitted
Trued rear wheel and chain fitted to bike.
Step 16 - Rear Wheel Infalted
Rear wheel is inflated.
Step 17 - Rear Wheel Tightened
Chain is tensioned and rear wheel is tightened.
Step 18 - Rear Wheel Centered
Rear wheel is checked that it is aligned center.
Step 19 - Pedals Greased
Thread on crank arm is greased ready for pedal installation
Step 20 - Pedals Installed
Pedals are attached to greased crank arm and tensioned.
Step 21 - Cable Check
Pre-fitted cable is lubed and anchor is checked.
Step 22 - Brake Pads
Brake pads are aligned flat with rim and tensioned.
Step 23 - Stradle Cable
Stadle cable is tensioned and tightened.
Step 24 - Brake Springs
Springs are adjusted and tensioned.
Step 25 - Seat Loosend
Seat loosend and adjusted.
Step 26 - Seat Tightened
Adjusted seat is tightened.
Step 27 - Front Wheel
Front wheel is inflated and attached to bike.
Step 28 - Near Complete
Near complete bike build
Step 29 - Headset
Headset is tensioned.
Step 30 - Stem
Stem is aligned and tensioned.
Step 31 - Brake Lever
Brake lever is adjusted to a comfortable position.
Step 32 - Complete Bike Build
Done! Ready to ride.
